One Country, One Vote

JEDA is governed with fairness, transparency, and a strong commitment to representing its diverse European membership. We operate on a “one country, one vote” principle, ensuring that all members, regardless of their size, revenue, or location, have equal weight in internal decisions. This unique approach fosters genuine cooperation and consensus-building towards shared goals.

Voting rights are determined by the nationality of members:

  • Only one vote per country can be cast, even if several members are based there.

  • Member organisations from the same country share this vote and work to reach consensus on how it will be cast.

  • If consensus cannot be achieved, the vote is split proportionally among the members from that country.

Legal Status

JEDA is a non-profit association (VZW/ASBL) with its registered office in Brussels (Koningsstraat 154–158, 1000 Brussels). English is the working language.

Structure & governance

Our governance framework is anchored in two main bodies: the General Assembly (GA) and the Board of Directors (BoD). This governance model balances pan-European representation with equal influence, ensuring that JEDA’s positions truly reflect the collective voice of Europe’s professional UAS community.

General Assembly

The General Assembly (GA) is the cornerstone of JEDA’s governance and the ultimate authority within the association. Bringing together all member organisations from across Europe, the GA meets at least once a year, whether in person, online, or in hybrid format, to set the strategic course of the organisation and ensure that it remains accountable to its members.

Presided over by the President or in their absence by one of the Vice-Presidents, the GA holds exclusive powers. These include electing and, when necessary, dismissing the members of the Board of Directors and the statutory auditor; approving the annual work programme, budget, financial accounts, and annual report; deciding on amendments to the statutes; and, when required, determining the admission or exclusion of members or the dissolution of the association.

By concentrating these responsibilities in the hands of the full membership, the GA ensures that JEDA’s priorities, policies, and actions are firmly anchored in the collective will of Europe’s professional UAS community. This structure safeguards legitimacy and transparency in everything we do.

The Board of Directors ensures the effective day-to-day management of JEDA and the timely implementation of decisions taken by the General Assembly. The Board handles routine and urgent matters, provides continuity between meetings, and represents the association within the limits of its delegated authority.

The Board steers JEDA’s work programme, safeguards its mission, and represents the association externally so that the community’s united voice is heard consistently across Europe and beyond.

By concentrating strategy and oversight in a balanced, member-elected body, the Board turns the General Assembly’s priorities into action, maintaining legitimacy, continuity, and a clear European direction for JEDA’s work.

Composed of JEDA’s elected officers—the President, Vice-Presidents, Secretary, and Treasurer—the Board of Directors translates strategy into action and keeps the association agile, professional, and responsive to the needs of its members and partners.
